Background

Gretchen’s litigation and trial experience are invaluable to achieving her clients’ goals.  Gretchen has spent her entire legal career litigating personal injury cases, and has the benefit of extensive experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex cases involving medical malpractice and negligence. For the first 12 years of Gretchen’s legal career, she practiced at a well-respected mid-size law firm in Midtown Atlanta, where she became partner.  During those first 12 years in her career, she defended medical malpractice, premises liability, and trucking cases involving significant personal injuries.  She represented doctors, physician extenders, nurses, medical practices, a large Atlanta hospital system, national retailers, and worked with large insurance companies.

After 12 years defending personal injury cases, Gretchen began representing individuals and families who have been injured due to someone else’ wrongful conduct.  Her law practice largely focuses on representing individuals who have sustained significant injuries or wrongful death due to nursing home abuse or neglect, medical malpractice, and ordinary negligence.  Her prior defense and first-hand knowledge about how the defense evaluates, works-up, and litigates complex cases involving personal injury allows her to more effectively represent injured clients.

Gretchen’s extensive background litigating medical cases is particularly invaluable to her representation of clients in medical negligence as well as nursing home abuse and neglect cases, where the medical issues and legal requirements can be complex, and where oftentimes the nursing home and medical records are voluminous and difficult for attorneys without medical background to navigate and understand, which is imperative in evaluating and effectively litigating these cases.

Gretchen graduated cum laude, with a B.B.A. in International Business, from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business in 1998.  She continued her education at the University of Georgia School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2002.  She has been consecutively named by Georgia Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star”, and was named to the Georgia Trend Legal Elite in 2009.  She has been an active member of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers, and served on the Foundation Board of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers from 2008 to 2011.

Gretchen is originally from Atlanta and is the second oldest child of 14 children. She and her husband, Jason, are proud parents of their two young sons, Owen and Henry.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, as well as reading, snow skiing, spending time outdoors, and entertaining.
